Windsor is a historic market town that dates back to the 11th Century, the Norman period and is home to Windsor Castle, occupied by the British Royal Family.
We were lucky to have made our long weekend visit in March before the lockdown to revisit the castle. We wanted to discover Windsor Great Park but due to one day of poor weather it was a day we spent indoors taking forty winks!
Windsor Castle is impressive with its grandeur and incredible history. There is always something new, doesn’t matter what time of the year you go. Our best advice is to get there early, with a plan of spending all day. If you wrap it up early, there are plenty of local places to discover. We can recommend taking a short walk to the riverside and discovering Eton.
